Australian Shiraz Viognier is stylish yet refined. It is lush with a tapestry of smooth tannins and succulent dried fruits, vanilla and black pepper. The practice of blending Shiraz (a red wine grape called Syrah in France) with Viognier (a white wine grape) began because these two grapes grow alongside each other in the Northern Rhône Valley of France, their original home. Rhône winemakers often ferment the grapes together and, under French law, are allowed to blend up to 20 percent Viognier into their red wines. Because Viognier brings an aromatic boost to the wine, this practice has become popular in other countries as well, especially Australia. In fact, Australia has long been renowned as a great producer of Shiraz wines. Some of the most prized are blended with Viognier for a full bodied wine bursting with floral and fruit aromatics. 18 liters with GenuWine Winery Dried Skins, American & Hungarian Oak, Lalvin Bourgovin RC 212 yeast, and 30 labels.
