Belgian Special B 1 ozs
Special B is a highly kilned Belgian caramel malt that has been kilned wet at a very high temperature.
This process leads to a very rich, burnt sugar and toffee character. You may also smell or taste dark fruit notes like plums, raisins etc.
It is commonly used in darker Belgian beers to lend that distinctly caramel character.
Use 5 to 10% of the grist for most styles.
Color is 150 lovibond.
Try it in a Belgian Dubbel or Dark strong, Brown Ales, Winter Ale, Barley wine, etc
The darkest of the Belgian crystal malts, Special B will impart a heavy caramel taste and is often credited with the raisin-like flavors of some Belgian Abbey ales. Larger percentages (great than 5%) will contribute a dark brown-black color and fuller body. 140 - 155 L
