roasted barley provides a sweet grainy, coffee like flavor with a red to deep brown color, depending on amount used.
The flavor is concentrated; therefore, useing a small amount will give a distinguishable flavor. use roasted barley with chocolate malt, black malt or black barley to obtain desired color and flavor profile in porters and stouts.
use 3 to 10% for a coffee like flavor typically in dark beers.
use 2 to 5% of total grist for Nut Brown Ales
